The map serves one saved snapshot of its sources at a time. A release replaces the whole snapshot, so figures can change between releases when filings are amended or new statements are filed.

The campaign cutoff is the date of the official CAL-ACCESS export, not the date this site was built. The campaign release check records the export version, connected PAC and candidate counts, Form 410 sponsorship checks, and future-dated transactions excluded from this release. The lobbying release check records the same export version, reporting-quarter coverage, estimated allocations and their reconciliation. The export date describes the snapshot, not the date through which every filer has reported. Legislative positions retain their separate source date above.

This refresh uses unique exact or registration-backed identity matches for lobbying records. Uncertain names remain separate, so some earlier payment connections are no longer drawn. This does not mean the underlying filed payment disappeared.

What changes between releases

  • New filings and statement periods add money and records.
  • Amended filings can change amounts, names or dates that were already on the map.
  • New bill analyses add or update positions.
  • Improvements to matching can join or separate records.

A link to a record keeps working as long as the record is in the current snapshot. When a figure matters, note the snapshot date and cite the filing. See How to cite.

Nightly publication

Each new official export rebuilds campaign finance, lobbying registrations and payments, and the labelled bill-level lobbying estimates. The nightly job publishes automatically after source, reconciliation, graph, layout and software checks pass. A failed or held build leaves the previous release in place. Bill analyses are a separate source and are not refreshed by this CAL-ACCESS job.
