Report an error
Send these through the contact form:
- the link to the record or chain on the map, or the record's ID;
- the public filing that shows the correct information, with its filing ID or a link;
- a description of what is wrong.
Say which kind of problem it is, because each is fixed in a different place:
| Problem | Example |
|---|---|
| The source filing is wrong | A filer reported the wrong amount or misspelled a name |
| The map imported it wrongly | The amount or date on the map differs from the filing |
| The identity is wrong | Two different people are on one record, or one committee is on two |
| The interpretation is wrong | An article, label or these docs describe a record incorrectly |
Errors in a source filing
The map shows records as filed. If a filing itself is wrong, only the filer can correct it, by filing an amendment with the Secretary of State. Once an amendment is filed, the corrected figure comes through in a later data release.
Before you write
Check a figure against the filing and Why figures differ from CAL-ACCESS cover the most common reasons a figure looks wrong but isn't.
